Evolve Thermal Spa

Understanding the Thermal Cycle

HEATING UP

The first stage involves raising the body’s temperature, which causes the blood vessels on the surface of the skin to expand. This leads to lower blood pressure and increased blood circulation to the skin and muscles. The rise in body temperature also induces significant sweating, which helps cleanse the skin and release negative energy from the body.

Try our sauna, hot shower, or steam room.

COOLING DOWN

In the second stage, the pores of the skin are closed with a brief but essential cool rinse. Without this cooling phase, the body will reabsorb sweat and toxins as it tries to stay hydrated. A cold plunge after the heat cycle effectively closes the pores, preventing toxin reabsorption, while releasing endorphins and boosting your heart rate. This is the stage where the most benefits from the hot-cold-relax sequence are gained.

Great in the cold plunge and the Artic Splash.

RELAXATION

The final stage focuses on allowing the cardiovascular system to recalibrate. After exposure to both hot and cold environments, it is important to rest and let the body stabilize blood flow and heart rate. This is a time for both physical and mental relaxation.

SOCIAL WELLNESS

Include a visit to the HALOS room, our oversized social salt room. And our FIKA Lounge, fully licensed with delicious food and beverage treats. Be social and enjoy or simply deepen the relationship with yourself or those close to you.

This cycle is not meant to be a one-time treatment. Each time a full cycle is completed, endorphins are released, creating a euphoric sensation similar to a “runner’s high.”

EVOLVE is the only urban wellness space in the province to offer this unique experience.

A History of Thermal Hot and Cold Baths

The new millennium has brought with it new levels of stress attributable to our fast-paced lifestyles, professional tensions, economic constraints, family issues and ever-increasing added expectations. People today need a place to not only recharge, but truly look at their entire lifestyle and wellness plan…people are searching for a balance.

Evolve is a place to reflect and regain focus, a place to purify the body and soul.

These types of spas have been around for thousands of years, in fact the first to discover the benefits of these various bathing techniques in Europe were the Romans. When the Roman Empire collapsed luxuries were left behind and Roman culture became a huge part of what is today a common European lifestyle. The word SPA is an acronym for Salus Per Aqua which is Latin for “Healing through Water”. A famous city in Belgium is named after the Roman Baths and is named “Spa” as is Baden Baden named after the ritual of bathing in Germany. The Scandinavian countries were the first to come up with the concept of heating the body in the sauna to allow all the impurities and toxins to come out of the body and then shocking the body in cold water. This process causes the pores to close thus not allowing any of the sweated-out toxins to re-enter the skin through its normal equilibrium to prevent dehydration. German priest Sebastian Kneipp reinvented the process of hot/ cold water therapy and how it helped the body with chronic pain and even healing from disease. The Persian culture invented the Hammam spas and the Japanese the Onsen. However, the Indigenous peoples of North America had been doing sweat lodges with spiritual healings, rain bathing, smudging, and floating in “sacred salt lakes” for probably 10’s of thousands of years.

Because Canada has such a young culture in comparison to Europe, it is just beginning to be introduced to the benefits it gets through such treatments. Evolve vision is to be the leader in introducing and expanding this treatment throughout New Brunswick.

Evolve has been able to create an entirely new type of wellness operation by adding a modern twist to the ancient thermal bathing rituals, offering the treatment and experience in a relaxing natural environment, with tranquil waterfalls pouring into the outdoor pools and baths.

“Unlike anything available in New Brunswick and beyond,

Evolve will offer an old-world thermal experience in an unmatched urban setting with new world services.”
